Leica Digilux (1998)
I suspect there will only ever be one Leica on this website.
The reason? The company only marketed one digital camera in the vintage era. That is to say, by the turn of the century.
(I'm excluding the very expensive studio S1 model which I don't believe I'll ever own).
This is the one – the charming little Digilux. It’s actually a rebadged Fuji MX-700 with slight external enhancements including the attractive gold tinge to the metal body. Plus the timeless Leica red dot, of course.
The result is that it looks like a classic and it's appropriately named "digilux".
Because the Digilux is a 1998 consumer digicam weighing just 245 grams, its features are few. The sensor is only
1.5 megapixels, the focus is fixed and the zoom range is narrow.
One enjoyable feature is the little flashing LEDs in the circular control rocker switch. Every time you give the Digilux an instruction, it responds with a lightshow.
In summary, this might be my only ever Leica, but I'm pleased to show it to you.
